The Best Homemade Guacamole with a Twist is aΒ delicious, fresh Guacamole that is full of flavour, easy to make at home and has a little hint of spice!
In our family we love avocados ..not just because they are healthy for us but because they taste great and they make delicious Guacamole! Β We love Guacamole not only in tacos but inΒ Nachos, with corn chips and as a side dish at barbeques.
When Guacamole is done right...it looks greatΒ with lots of colours, chunky ingredients and it smells divine!
Yes...Guacamole is gluten-free so it is perfect for anyone on a gluten-free diet, is gluten intolerant or is Coeliac.
To make the best Guacamole at home...(to make it really great and not just something that gets smushed up in tacos) there are a couple of tips!
The tips to making the best homemade Guacamole with a twist!
The first tip
....is that you need fresh ingredients.
You need fresh garden tomatoes (tinned tomatoes just don't cut it here πΒ ), coriander (cilantro), red onion, lemon or lime juice and chilli (to your liking) ...and ripe avocados (of course!!)
The second tip
....You need to add salt. It really does bring out the taste and colour!Β
and....
The third tip with a twist ....
ΒΌ to Β½ teaspoon ofΒ ground cumin makes an ordinary Guacamole into something spectacular!!
How to make the Best Homemade Guacamole with a Twist!
- Cut the tomatoes in quarters and remove the seeds. (This way your Guacamole wont be slushy and will be nice and chunky!) Then dice the flesh of the tomatoes.
- In a bowl add in the diced tomatoes, diced red onion, chillies (the amount to your liking), chopped coriander, add the salt and stir to combine.
- In a separate bowl, add the avocados and using a fork mush the avocados. Then add in a good squeeze of lemon or lime juice (this stops theΒ avocadosΒ turning brown and adds a tang of flavour) and then add in the cumin and stir to combine.
- Add the avocado mixture to the tomato mixture and combine....this is when it really starts to smell wonderful!
Spoon into a bowl and serve with corn chips....or with nachos....or in tacos...or as a side dish to a meal.....or simply just use a spoon and eat it all on its own....yum!! π
