A rich, decadent, dark chocolate and coconut tart that is the perfect 'special' gluten-free dessert to indulge in!
There are times when you just need (and deserve) and special, rich, decadent dessert and that even just one slice will fill you with joy (in a way that only chocolate can :-)).
This dark chocolate and coconut tart is heavenly, rich and it is gluten-free!
This tart is made with a base that is perfect for this dessert but also for other sweet desserts. It is easy to make and it doesn't need to be blind baked, as it is just popped in the oven for 15 mins.
Finding a gluten-free sweet pie base that is easy to make and tastes good is every gluten-free person's dream...right?
Well, here it is and yes...you can thank me later...after you have indulged in a rich, decadent dessert...made at home!
I always think of making this Gluten-free Chocolate and Coconut Tart in easy two steps...making the base and then making the chocolate topping.
Step 1 - How to make a gluten-free dessert pie base
All you need is 5 ingredients to make this delicious and easy dessert pie base!!
- 1 Β½ cups of blanched almond flour
- Β½ cup of shredded coconut
- 2 ΒΌ tablespoons of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
In a microwave bowl, add the coconut oil, honey and maple syrup and melt for about 12 sec (till it is runny and can be stirred together).Β In a mixer add in the almond flour, coconut and melted coconut oil/ honey syrup.Β Mix until the mixture just comes together. You should be able to bring it together with your fingers.Β Place mixture onto a pie tin with a removable base.Β Then put in the mixture, and using your fingers press into the base of the tin. Then cook in a pre-heated oven on a moderate temp for about 15 to 20 mins or until it just starts to go brown and it is firm to the touch.
Step 2 - How to make Chocolate and Coconut Ganache Topping
Now to add theΒ delicious, decadent, dark chocolate topping!! π
- 2 blocks of dark good quality chocolate (about 350g)
- 1 can of coconut cream
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
Break up the chocolate and place in a large bowl.Β On the stove top, add the coconut cream to a saucepan and heat.Β When the coconut cream is hotΒ pour over the chocolate pieces and leave it to melt the chocolate for about 1 minute and then add in the vanilla.Β Then stir to combine and pour into the cooled crust.
Recipe for Gluten Free Chocolate and Coconut Tart
- Base

- When the coconut cream is hot pour over the chocolate pieces and leave it to melt the chocolate for about 1 minute and then add in the vanilla.
- Then stir to combine and pour into the cooled crust.
- Place in the fridge
I simply top the of the chocolate and coconut tart with toasted coconut pieces and a sprinkle of icing sugar...but there is nothing to stop your from adding fresh berries...
...orΒ (if you need a little more indulgence)Β a dollop of whipped cream!!
