The Tips to Simple, Fresh and Happy Cleaning!

The tips to simple, fresh and happy cleaning!

With the busy lives that we all live now there are many tasks that just need to be done and there is often not a lot of time. Cleaning is just one of them!

Now I could write a list of all the jobs to do but that just makes everything feel onerous and something that I may want to put off to later.

So…no! Not a list but a few tips!

Tips that will make cleaning easier and more enjoyable and even improve happiness… and then give more time to do those all those other things that ‘make’ the day!

Cleaning, exercise and happiness!

Weird combination of words…I thought so too when I wrote them.  It is amazing when you think of cleaning as a form of exercise. Our body and our mind are connected and when we are active it make makes us feel happier and it is great for our physical health.

It makes me feel great when I know I have cleaned but got a work out at the same time… that is good time management …right!  🙂

Knowing that I am cleaning and exercising all at the same time improves my mood and can change a drab day into something a lot better.

So the next time you need to clean, think that you are contributing to having a great mood AND doing exercise.  The bonus is that you have a clean home, office or room. So do put in that little extra effort when you vacuum, clean the bathroom or sweep the floor…it just might make you a little fitter and happier!

Having a Natural Cleaning Kit

Of course chemical cleaners clean really well but sometimes you just need to be kinder to yourself, family, the environment and also for the budget. Now I am not about to sprout on about getting rid of all the chemical cleaners but there are a few tips that make a natural cleaning kit the perfect effective cleaners, on the cheap.

Microfibre cloths when they are dry, are brilliant picking up dust but they are also great wet, for cutting through dirt and grime. The best part is that they can be flipped into the washing machine to be cleaned and then used again.

Having a squeegee in the shower is a great way to stop the build up of soap scum on the shower screen and shower tiles. After a shower simply squeegee the glass and not only will it stop the soap scum building up but the glass and tiles will be spot free and looking just like those ‘display homes’!!

White Vinegar and Bi-carbonate of Soda is a must in the natural cleaning kit. White vinegar is a natural degreaser, Bi-carbonate Soda is great as an abrasive but combined together they do wonders for those stinky, clogged drains. Simply pour 1/2 cup of Bi-carbonate of Soda down the drain and then pour in one cup of white vinegar and watch the reaction as it bubbles, foams and clear those stinky drains.

The spots to clean (that we don’t often think about!)

Now I am adding this because it is a reminder of the things that we never really notice. These are the things to do when it is ‘spring cleaning’, or when you have some spare time or you just haven’t noticed them.

You just might say…oh yeah! to one or two of these ….

The top of the ceiling fans and the top of kitchen cabinets (sugar soap is the best if it hasn’t been done in a while.)

Cleaning out the fridge with warm soapy water and then wiping it with vanilla essence or leaving a little pot of Bi-carbonate of Soda to absorb any food smells.

Vacuuming your mattress and using the microfibre cloth to clean the TV screen and other electronics.

Cleaning the light switches and the dreaded one…the oven. Using the vinegar and bicarbonate as a paste and leaving it for a while, works really well for the oven and oven door.

Removing the dust that accumulates on lampshades and the best way to do this, is by using a lint roller!

Clean with your favourite music on!

Music can make all the difference to our attitude and the motivation to get up and do things. Getting through the dreary task of cleaning can be made more enjoyable simply by having your favourite song to groove along too. The best part is you can sing along to that special song, as loud as you want,  especially when you are vacuuming. They really should put that on the side of the vacuum cleaner boxes as a added selling point! 🙂

Clean with someone else!

Yes, the obvious is here with this one…you get the cleaning done in half the time.

But do you realise that when you clean with someone, you are giving your time, energy and kindness to others. It not only helps them but it is also great for our wellbeing too. Research shows people who have strong relationships with a close friend, partner and family are happier, healthier and live longer.

It is amazing to think that simple, fresh and happy cleaning can make all the difference to our wellbeing!

Enjoy!
