DIY - Ikea NoteΒ Board Hack!
I needed a note board to remind me of the little things, like birthdays, what to get at the shops and important messages.
I know that iPhones do it all, but I needed a 'reminder' in our kitchen where I see it all the time.
So I went to Ikea and bought the perfect size all for ONLY $7.00.. Cheap!
...but it was a little boring ...
So to give it a little facelift all I needed was:
- painter's tape
- wall paint
- sponge brush
- string
- washi tape or decorative tape
Step 1
I used painter's tape to cover the edges and I used a ruler to measure straight lines.
Step 2
I then painted inside the painter's tape using a foam brush and I wanted it to look a little streaky/nautical....so I only did one coat of wall paint.
While it was still wet, I carefully pulled off the painter's tape to reveal the stripes.
Well, the cork really soaks up the paint, so I went back over it with a second coat...and it looks fantastic! (YOU would be best to do 2 coats of paint!)
Step 3
To add a bit of colour and flair, I made up a bunting strip, to hang across the top. I used decorative tape and simply folded the paper strips over some twine and cut little 'v's into each one.
Oh! They do look cute!!Β
Now...I should never forget anything ever again... Right?? π
The perfect place to remind me to get milk, bread....and of course chocolate!Β
