Β DIY - Chest of drawers transformed!
So a few years ago (well maybe 18 years ago) brown furniture was THE fashion. Everything was stained brown and both my boys had matching furniture- tall boys, beds, cupboards...the works. They were expensive back then and actually made of real wood.
Today, I still have those pieces and even though Ikea is cheap and easy to put together, I am on a mission to recycle (do my bit to save the planet and some $$$) Β and re-love what I have. So this means a little elbow grease and plenty of WHITE PAINT.
I lugged the furniture into a passage way (much more comfortable than the garage ) and painted, painted and painted!
Painting the undercoat or primer.... 2 coats, at least, Β to stop the stain seeping through
And after .....
IΒ didn'tΒ put the old knobs back but replaced them with silver ones that look a little more modern andΒ easier to use.
DIY is accepting that things may not be perfect (and I am ok with that, as it looks more rustic) and enjoying the process and making a difference with what you have. This is my first attempt, so lets see how I go with something a little bigger.
Recycling, with a pretty finish....love it!!
Have you recycled anything that you have enjoyed doing and it adds to a space?
