DIY Christmas Tree Decoration
Christmas in my family is about enjoying time together, eating (...and having little naps after), decorating with Christmas trinkets and lights and lots of love!!
In my home, we have had the same Christmas Tree since my first was born 19 years ago!!
It is looking a little crooked, it is a little bit sparse with the pine needles and the branches seem to be few and far between.
I don't have the heart to buy a new one as this one has so many memories and it is special because of its little 'characteristics'.....it is still holding on!!
So each year, we simply give it a little facelift by adding new little Christmas baubles and some 'special' DIY Christmas ornaments.
I think the ones hand made by my children at kindergarten and school are the best!

Each year we find a different way to add to the tree.... including this
'cute as a button' - DIY Christmas Tree Decoration!!
These little DIY Christmas Trees are made from buttons and are simply stacked on top of each other from small to large, with a pipe cleaner and finished off with a star!
These little Christmas Trees didn't cost me very much to make!
I have to admit I did have quite a few green buttons that were taken off old clothes but I did go to my local craft shop to buy a few more and to purchase the little red and gold stars to shine on the top.
How to make DIY Christmas Tree Decoration - Cute as a Button!
Firstly, I arranged the size of the buttons in the order that I wanted to thread them.
I did add a few smaller ones in here and there to give it the look of a Christmas Tree.
I bent the pipe cleaner in half and carefully took off a few of the foils near the end, so that it was easier to push the buttons through.
I slipped on the little red star first and then a little further down twisted it around, to make the loop to hang on the Christmas tree.
Then I threaded the smallest button first, through two holes of the button. This may look tricky but it actually slides on the pipe cleaner really easily.
Continue to slide on the buttons ....
...and when you get to the end, simply twist the two ends of the pipe cleaner together, so the buttons won't slide off.
.....and viola!!
The cutest little DIY Christmas Tree Decoartion, ready to hang on your tree.
You can twist the pipe cleaner, so the star sits straight on top. I like to keep it a little to the side as it represent my own Christmas Tree...not so perfect but still beautiful!!

Oh that is cute! Pretty simple once you have all the buttons collected.
