This Gluten Free Honey and Soy Chicken is the best everyday meal and makes delicious, crispy, sticky chicken pieces that can be served on rice, with salad or vegetables!
This is probably one of the easiest dishes - Gluten Free Honey and Soy Chicken....and it always surprises me at how delicious it is and without all the fuss!
If you love chicken that is covered in a sticky sauce and goes perfectly topped on rice and vegetables ..then this recipe is for you!! 😉
The dark pieces of the chicken (that look like they are burnt 😉) are the best bits....these are the pieces that everyone tries to take! They are crispy, sticky and full of flavour!!
There is not a lot of preparation with this dish especially if you cook rice in a rice cooker and have some fresh vegetables to serve with the chicken.
There is one little tip to making this gluten free honey and soy chicken so delicious and also how to get the sweet, salty sticky sauce!
Tips to making the Gluten Free Honey and Soy Chicken dish!
The best way to cook this Gluten Free Honey and Soy Chicken is by using a wok that has a lid (or if you wok doesn't have a lid, you could use a saucepan lid).
You could use a frypan but the wok works so well because the sauce sits in the base of the wok and coats the chicken really well. It also allows for all the chicken to soak up the sauce and lets the sauce caramelise and become sticky.
We finish off this dish by adding some toasted sesame seeds and simply slicing up the chicken and letting everyone place their chicken on top of their bowl of rice and vegetables.
How to make Gluten Free Honey and Soy Chicken
- Cook some rice to serve with the chicken. I use a rice cooker and add a gluten free chicken stock cube with the water - to give the rice an extra 'chicken' flavour.
- Using a wok, lightly grease it and wait for it to heat up.
- Add in ½ teaspoon of minced garlic and minced ginger and add the chicken thigh fillets (no need to slice them, just put them in whole)
- Add the soy sauce and the water and cook the chicken on one side.
- Turn the chicken and cover with a lid, so the soy sauce will be absorbed and the chicken will be moist and cook on the other side.
- When it looks like the chicken is cooked and the sauce has been absorbed, take off the lid, add the honey and cook on high heat until the sauce starts to thicken (continue to cook the chicken until the sauce has reduced and it has a sticky, caramel texture)
- When it looks like the sauce is sticking to the chicken, remove from the wok, slice and serve with the rice.
....so delicious!
